<lj:music>de la soul</lj:music>

This has been a busy and trying summer and autumn! Lots of cool projects and some terrible colds and allergies! here's the sum up of recent news:

The solo show at Zg Gallery has been extended to the end of October, so if you are around Chicago and haven't been to see the show, be sure to stop by and say hi to Ms. Sheehy and Ms. Casis if you get a chance. They have an updated book from the show you can see here.

In Ohio right now I am or will be showing in a few different places:
I am in the Cleveland Arts Prize Winners Collaborative over at Convivium 33, a beautiful space in a renovated church located at 1433 East 33rd Street. The show features current and past Cleveland Arts Prize winners, so I am in great company. It runs until October 25, 2009

I am in a group show called Terra Non Firma featuring some great artists working with the landscape in one form or another:Hilary Aurand, Judith Brandon, Jerry Birchfield, Kristin Bly, Andy Curlowe, Peter Gent, Megan Herwig, Jess Langley, Mark Keffer, Matt Kolodziej, Christine McCullough, Josh Rex, Alex Tapie and Douglas Max Utter.
The show is a collaboration between east and west Cleveland as Legation, a gallery at 1300 West 78th St. joins forces with Front Room Gallery located at 3615 Superior Avenue 4203A and is open through Nov 28, with a closing reception on the 28th from 6-9pm

I am in a show with my friend Judith Brandon at Bayarts Gallery in Bay Village where I am showing mostly etchings and a couple of paintings and Judy is showing her beautiful paintings. The show is open until Oct 31.

In November, I will be showing some of these prints at the Massillon Museum in Massillon, Ohio along with some fellow Zygote Press Members. The exhibition focuses on women printmakers producing art as part of printmaking cooperatives. The show runs Nov 1- January 3. Speaking of Zygote, don't forget their benefit Art oberfest on Oct 30.

Also in November, I will be showing with Jen Omaitz at Arts Collinwood, in Cleveland opening Nov 9th.

I am also gearing up for my first solo show with Michael Rosenthal which should be opening January 16th.

In other news, I will be included in the Midwest issue of New American Paintings #83 and my painting 'Dangling' is actually on the cover.
Also included is Cleveland artist Randall Tiedman. Woop woop! It should coming soon to select bookstores near you.

I've been painting up a storm to get ready for my Sept 11 opening in Chicago.

The show will be called Uncertain times and it will be at Zg Gallery.
Right now I feel uncertain that I will finish everything I want to get done for the show on time. but usually about a month before a show, I have to start dissolving my delusions of grandeur and focus on what I can really accomplish without breaking some laws of physics.

I did get a chance to see the American Scene Exhibition at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art which I was in. It just closed August 2nd. My work was right next to Meagan Shein's, who I was lucky enough to meet there at the reception. Her work is really beautiful, and Meagan is great, and even kind enough to drop me off at the train station afterwards.
I think the show was very interesting and well put together. Wilmington is a funny little town, I was wandering downtown before the reception getting drizzled on for awhile, having been stupid enough not to get proper directions from the Amtrack. A kind hotel worker set me on the right track after getting about a mile in the wrong direction! I have no internal compass.

I wish i could make it to the opening. jan 12

Alex Lukas
http://www.alexlukas.com/

Chris Pew
http://www.capsule9.com/

the ad has one of Alex's images, really nice:

i'm afraid i had to absorb myself so much to get things finished, i darn near neglected everything else- family, friends, my girls, the holiday season, sleep, correspondence and even personal hygiene. so i apologize for all that. really. happy new year everyone.
